The Runaways Project was established in 2003 following research carried out by Derby City Council Youth Service which highlighted that there was a need for a service to support vulnerable young people who were running away from home or care or were at risk of running away.

The project provides confidential one-to-one support for young people aged between 8 and 16 who have run away or are at risk of running away from home, care or who have been thrown out. The service is open to any young person who lives within Derby.

A multi-agency steering group oversees the project and it is managed by Derby City Council Children and Young People’s Department
